Salem County 2000 receives DuPont Corporate Fund Award - Grant Will Support Internet Safety Initiative

Grant will fund community interaction in science, math and technology education
Carneys Point, NJ.— Salem County 2000 has received a grant of $5,750 from DuPont Chambers Works to help launch an Internet safety program.
The DuPont Corporate Fund Award will help educate local area school teachers, students and parents about the importance of safety in day-to-day importance of safely using the World Wide Web when conducting school projects and searching for employment.
Salem County 2000’s Internet Safety initiative – presented in conjunction with the N.J. State Police Cyber Crimes/Digital Technology Units – kicked off last spring with school assemblies. Workshops in Salem County municipalities are planned for this fall. In addition, 40 Salem County teachers participated in a day-long, Internet safety train-the-trainer workshop last month. Topics included online predators/case studies and cyber bullying.
“DuPont Chambers Work has been a tremendous help to Salem County 2000
since the group’s inception in 1990,” said Salem County 2000 Chair John D.
Jordan, Esq. “This grant is the latest demonstration of Chambers Works’
commitment to the young people of Salem County. We appreciate the grant
and will put it to an important use in helping promote students’ safe use
of the World Wide Web.”
This grant is one of 80 projects worldwide being supported in 2007 by the
DuPont Community Fund, a program that has provided more than $2 million
for innovative programs that address community sustainability in the areas
of social progress, economic success and environmental excellence.
“DuPont Chambers Works enjoys a very strong educational/science outreach program within Salem County,” said Gerry Ferguson, Chambers Works Jackson Laboratory unit manager. “This grant and partnership will further strengthen the plant’s commitment to local education and our community. "
